Committees
Communications Committee
The task of the communications committee is to coordinate discussion among board members, committees and most importantly, members about the various events and activities sponsored by ACEL. This is accomplished by various means, including our weekly e-newsletter, the ACELerator, through our website, and with our internal communications tools, including Facebook.
Community Relations Committee
The ACEL community relations committee meets the last Monday of the month at 7:00pm. Our main committee focus is organizing the ACEL Champions for Charity Kickball Tournament. The kickball tournament is our annual internal fundraiser as well as a way to give back to the community. The winning team chooses the charity that will receive proceeds. The community relations committee also handles all volunteer requests made by the community and/or general membership. It is also our duty to submit community events and other fundraisers that might be of interest to the ACEL members. Membership Committee
The Membership committee is responsible for ensuring that ACEL is consistently doing everything that can be done to continue to meet the expectations of the current members. Additionally we are responsible for actively growing the ACEL membership to provide more impact to our community and actively work to get existing members more engaged.
Professional Development Committee
The Professional Development Committee has successfully hosted lunch n' learns with motivational speaker John Spence and Linda Cirulli-Burton and trivia nights with State Farm's Rosie Smith and Gainesville's own Brent Christensen. We have more exciting events planned for 2008, but need your help. The committee will happily accept volunteers who can give as much or as little time as they can spare, and we always want to hear your ideas for events. The committee meets the first Thursday of every month at Bento's on Archer Road at noon. Contact Tracy Tompkins for more information at tracy@acelfl.com or to submit ideas/requests for future events.
Social Committee
The social committee is responsible for setting an environment for member interaction. The committee sponsors ACEL's Annual Meeting, Holiday party and monthly socials. Each event allows the other ACEL committees to meet potential new committee workers and may possibly be the first opportunity for interested people to join the organization.
Sponsorship Committee
The ACEL sponsorship committee handles both in-kind and cash contributions to the organization. The committee is responsible for developing the organization's procedures for soliciting businesses and typically takes the lead in active solicitation.
